Who are the advisors?

Experienced agency operators and Non-Executive Directors with first-hand experience of building, scaling and exiting marketing, digital, creative, PR and media agencies. Every profile sets out the advisor's background, their specialisms — growth, exit, strategy, leadership, finance or operations — and their hourly rate.

Founders and owners of marketing agencies who want board-level input on a specific decision: a growth plateau, a pricing or structure problem, a leadership gap, or getting the business ready to sell.

How is this different from hiring a permanent Non-Executive Director?

A permanent NED is a long-term appointment with a monthly fee and a board seat. AgencyNXD is hourly and one-off: you buy a single conversation with someone who has already solved the problem in front of you, and you only come back if you want to.

How is it different from hiring a consultant?

A consultant is usually engaged to run a project over weeks or months. AgencyNXD advisors are agency owners and operators giving you their own experience in a focused session — advice and challenge, not delivery.

How does booking work?

Choose an advisor from the directory, pick a slot from their availability, pay by card, and you'll receive a video-call invite. The whole thing happens in one sitting — there is nothing to negotiate first.

How long are the sessions?

Advisors offer 60, 90 and 120-minute sessions. Most first conversations are 60 minutes, which is enough to work through one substantial question properly.

How do I know the times offered are genuinely free?

The times you see come from the advisor's own connected Google or Microsoft calendar, inside the working hours they've set. Anything already in their diary isn't offered to you.

How does the call itself happen?

It's a 1:1 video call. When your booking is confirmed the session is added to the advisor's calendar and you get an invite with the video meeting link, so there's nothing to install or arrange.

Can I choose who I speak to?

Yes — you always book a named advisor. You can filter the directory by specialism and read each advisor's background and rate before you commit.

What should I prepare?

Bring the one decision or problem you most want a view on, plus any numbers behind it. The more specific you are, the more useful an hour with an experienced operator is.

Can I cancel or reschedule?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Sign in and cancel from your bookings page — both you and the advisor are notified and the slot is released. Cancel at least 24 hours before the session and the session fee is refunded, less the £25 platform fee; inside 24 hours, or if you don't attend, the session is treated as delivered and isn't refundable. To move a session rather than cancel it, reply to your confirmation email or write to hello@agencynxd.com and we'll arrange it with the advisor.

What does it cost?

Accepted Answer

Advisors set their own hourly rate; the typical rate is £300 per hour. You pay the advisor's rate plus VAT, and no extra platform fee is added at checkout. Longer sessions are charged pro rata against the same hourly rate.

Is there a platform fee or commission on top?

Accepted Answer

No. AgencyNXD takes a flat £25 management fee from the advisor's payout rather than a share of their fee or a mark-up on your side, so the price you see on the profile is the price you pay.

Do I have to sign up to a retainer?

Accepted Answer

No. Every booking is a single, one-off session. There's no retainer, no minimum term and no obligation to book again.

When do I pay?

Upfront, by card, at the point of booking. The session is only confirmed once payment has gone through.

Will I get a VAT receipt?

Accepted Answer

Yes — VAT is shown as a separate line at checkout and your card payment receipt covers the session.

What happens if a session is cancelled?

If you cancel at least 24 hours before the session, the session fee is refunded to the card you paid with, less the £25 platform fee, and you'll get an email confirming it. Cancellations inside 24 hours and no-shows aren't refundable. If the advisor cancels or doesn't attend, you're refunded in full including the platform fee, or can reschedule at no extra cost. Can I book the same advisor again?

Yes. Many owners come back to the same advisor as a regular sounding board, booking an hour whenever a decision warrants it. You book each session the same way, at the same hourly rate.

Do I get anything in writing afterwards?

Accepted Answer

The value is in the conversation itself; there's no formal report. Advisors will often follow up by email with the specific things they said they'd send, but take your own notes on the call.

What if the session wasn't right for me?

Tell us. Email hello@agencynxd.com with what happened and we'll look at it with the advisor — the directory only works if the conversations are worth the money.
